Watch: Chiwetel Ejiofor Hunts Killer of Julia Roberts’ Daughter in ‘Secret in Their Eyes’ Trailer

Check out the first trailer for upcoming thriller film, Secret in Their Eyes (2015), starring Chiwetel Ejiofor ( 12 Years a Slav e), Nicole Kidman ( Grace of Monaco ), and Julia Roberts ( August: Osage County ).

Directed and written by Billy Ray , the feature is based on the 2005 novel La Pregunta de Sus Ojos ( The Question in Their Eyes ) by Argentinian author Eduardo Sacheri .

The novel was previously adapted into the 2009 Argentine film The Secret in Their Eyes , which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.

The story follows a tight-knit team of FBI investigators, Ray (Ejiofor) and Jess (Roberts), and their District Attorney supervisor Claire (Kidman), who are torn apart when they discover that Jess’ teenage daughter has been brutally and inexplicably murdered.

Thirteen years later, Ray returns to Los Angeles after uncovering a new lead that he feels can permanently resolve the case.

Also starring Dean Norris ( Breaking Bad ) and Michael Kelly ( House of Cards ), Secret in Their Eyes was produced by Mark Johnson and Matt Jackson under Gran Via Productions, IM Global, and Route One Films.

The film will hit theaters on October 23, 2015 through STX Entertainment.
