Kanye West, Usher & Phylicia Rashad to Receive 2015 BET Honors

Superstar rapper Kanye West and veteran pop and R&B singer Usher have been announced as honorees for the 2015 BET Honors show.

It seems that all of Kanye West’s years of calling himself a visionary (among other things) has paid off and caught the attention of others as he will indeed receive the Visionary Award.

Usher will receive the Music Arts Award for his two decade career, as Phylicia Rashad will receive the Theatrical Arts Award.

Other honorees include Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole , director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African Art and former president of Spelman College, the recipient of the Education Award, and Microsoft Chairman John W. Thompson , the Technology and Business Award recipient.

Past honorees include Alicia Keys , Magic Johnson , Stevie Wonder , Whitney Houston , Queen Latifah , Iman , Jamie Foxx , Maya Angelou , and Halle Berry – just to name a few.

The 8th Annual BET Honors will be taped on January 24, 2015 in Washington and will air on February 23, with actor and comedian Wayne Brady as the host. Ticket sales will benefit the National CARES Mentoring Program.
