Now that Tony-nominated actress Condola Rashad has completed Romeo and Juliet on Broadway alongside Orlando Bloom , she is set to co-star in a new Fox drama titled, Hieroglyph .

The 13-episode series takes place in ancient Egypt, “where fantasy and reality intertwined.” It follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve a power-obsessed Pharoah, played by English actor Reece Ritchie ( The Lovely Bones / Hercules: The Thracian Wars ), who is making his U.S. television debut.

The thief, who has not yet been cast, will navigate “palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers.”

Condola will play Nefertari, the Pharaoh’s half-sister with a rare beauty that intimidates even the strongest of suitors… and she knows it.

Hieroglyph is produced by 20th TV and Chernin Entertainment, and executive producers are creator Travis Beacham, Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope, Miguel Sapochnik , who will direct the premiere episode.

The daughter of Ahmad Rashad and Phylicia Rashad , Condola has been nominated for back-to-back Tony Awards for Stick Fly (2012) and The Trip to Bountiful (2013). She has also starred in Lifetime’s highly-rated Steel Magnolias remake and NBC’s Smash .
