Ava DuVernay’s ‘Middle of Nowhere’ to Premiere on BET on Aug. 2

Ava DuVernay ‘s award-winning drama film Middle of Nowhere (2012) will make its television debut on BET on August 2nd.

The independent feature follows Ruby ( Emayatzy Corinealdi ), a promising medical school student who embarks on a journey of self-discovery after her husband Derek ( Omari Hardwick ) is sentenced to eight years in prison.

Also starring David Oyelowo and Lorraine Toussaint , the film won the Directing Award for U.S. Dramatic Film at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival .

Written, directed, and produced by Ava, the film is distributed by AFFRM (African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement) and Participant Media. It has yet to hit DVD.
