Rapper and actor Shad Moss , who recently shed his stage name “Bow Wow,” has joined the cast of CBS’ CSI spin-off, CSI: Cyber — the fourth series in the CSI franchise, which will focus on cyber crimes.

The current host of BET’s 106 & Park will take on the series regular role of a genius 19-year-old hacker named Brody “Baby Face” Nelson, one of the most well-known and prolific cyber criminals in the world.

After being apparently busted, “Baby Face” is ordered by a judge to apply his skills on cyber cases under Special Agent Avery Ryan (played by Patricia Arquette ).

“Baby Face” grew up without any parental guidance and found a new family in a “hacktivist” group, according to ShadowAndAct .

“Bow Wow is a gifted young actor who will have the responsibility, through his character, to set an example for young people who watch the show to ‘do what’s right’ even when you know ‘nothing but wrong,'” said Anthony E. Zuiker , creator of the CSI franchise. “It will be a redemption story and a cautionary tale all wrapped into one. The role of Nelson required someone with deep acting chops and off-the-charts smarts. Shad Moss is a unique talent that possesses both.”

Shad’s previous television roles include Moesha, The Steve Harvey Show, Brothers Garcia, Smallville, Ugly Betty and HBO’s fifth season of Entourage .

CSI: Cyber ‘s cast also includes James Van Der Beek ( Dawson’s Creek ), Peter MacNicol ( Numb3rs ) and Charley Koontz ( Community ).

The show is produced by CBS Television Studios/Jerry Bruckheimer Television and executive produced by Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Anthony E. Zuiker, Pam Veasey, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman .
