After a few pushbacks, Chris Brown has finally decided on an official release date for his overdue, yet semi-rushed sixth studio album X .

Originally set to be released in July, the troubled singer and actor took to his official Twitter page where he tweeted “111913!,” which equals the 11th month, 19th day, and the year 2013 (November 19, 2013 in case I’m throwing you off a little.)

The album, which will consist of two discs with 10 songs each, went into development shortly after the release of Fortune , which earned lukewarm sales, and reviews.

Take a look at what he had to say about deciding to change his sound from pop-infused and sexually explicit, to a more mature, soulful and vulnerable theme for the album and why he chose to name it X below:

“It’s the Roman numeral for 10. 5/5/89 is my birthday: 5 plus 5 is 10, and this is my tenth year since I got into music. ‘X’ is the 24th letter in the alphabet, and I will turn 24 when this album comes out. ‘X’ is also a metaphor, as in ‘ex-girlfriend’: it implies you’re progressing and moving on in life, not holding on to the past and your old ways.

I tried to stay away from the Euro beats, and not go totally pop. Instead, I wanted to take the Quincy Jones approach. The record pays homage to the Stevie Wonders, the Michael Jacksons, the Sam Cookes. I wanted to put that classic essence of R&B and soul with the new age of music now. There’s a lot of live instruments, and a lot less Auto-Tune. I really wanted to demonstrate my vocal ability, creating the vibe of me singing along with a band.”

For the album, Chris worked with producers such as Timbaland, Diplo, Danja, Pharrell Williams/The Neptunes , and Polow Da Don , and with artists such as Aaliyah, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, and Wiz Khalifa — just to name a few.

So far a total of three singles have been released: The lead single Fine China ,” which managed to peak at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; Don’t Think They Know ,” which peaked at #81; and most recently the Nicki Minaj - assisted “Love More,” which has peaked at #38.
