Cali rapper ScHoolboy Q has revealed the standard and deluxe cover art for his forthcoming third studio album Oxymoron , set to release February 25, 2014 via Top Dawg Entertainment/Interscope.
Following 2011′s Setbacks and 2012′s Habits & Contradictions , which were both released independently to digital retailers only, Oxymoron serves as the Black Hippy member’s first album released under a major record label to all retailers.
The album artwork for the standard album features a young Kangol and gold chain-wearing Q, while the deluxe album cover shows an adult, masked version of the emcee.
The covers fit Oxymoron ‘s gang-history theme. “This album is about me taking care of my daughter and Crip history from 1969 to presen,” Q told Life + Times .
The 15-track set is led by singles the Boi-1da -produced “Yay Yay,” which released April 16, 2013, the Kendrick Lamar -assisted “Collard Greens,” which debuted June 11, 2013, and “Man of the Year,” which released November 23, 2013.
“Collard Greens” peaked at #92 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, #28 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and #8 on US Heatseekers Songs.
The music video for “Man of the Year,” directed by Dave Free, Fredo Tovar and Scott Fleishman , was released January 17, 2014. The song will hit rhythmic contemporary radio in the US on January 28, 2014.
The album also features 2 Chainz, Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Danny Brown, Tyler, The Creator, Action Bronson , and Raekwon .
