Listen: Romeo Santos Premieres “Odio” ft Drake (from ‘Formula, Vol. 2’)
Bachata King Romeo Santos definitely knows the power of a major cross-genre collab. This time the Latin star teams up with Grammy-winning rapper Drake for a message of love with his new single “Odio.”
The Canadian hip-hop artist takes a stab at crooning in Spanish before returning to English to rap, “You were the one / You’ve been the one from the moment I seen you / Sometimes I question / If this is all real then I grab on that ass and I firmly believe it.”
The track is set to appear on the Romeo’s forthcoming sophomore album Formula, Vol. 2, due February 25th and available now for pre-order.
Set to hit iTunes on January 28th, “Odio” is preceded by the album’s lead single, “Propuesta Indecente,” which has peaked at #1 on the US Latin chart, #1 on the US Tropical chart and #79 on Billboard Hot 100.
A video for the song released September 2013 and features Mexican entertainer Eiza Gonzalez.
Formula, Vol. 2 is the follow-up to 2011’s Formula, Vol. 1, which went 3× Platinum and spawned six singles: “You,” the Usher-assisted “Promise,” “Mi Santa,” “All Aboard,” featuring Lil Wayne, “Rival,” and “La Diabla.”
Four of those singles reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in the U.S and the album peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
It went on to win three Latin Grammys in 2012: Album of the Year, Digital Album of the Year, and Tropical Album of the Year.
The new album will feature appearances by American rapper Nicki Minaj, King of Salsa Marc Anthony, guitarist Carlos Santana, Reggaeton artist Tego Calderón, and American comedian Kevin Hart.
