I am pleased to share that Beyoncé will be honored as the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards , where she will also be performing some of her biggest hits before she accepts it!

Originally called the Video Vanguard Award (Lifetime Achievement Award), it was renamed in 1991 as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

It is given to musicians who have made a profound effect on the MTV culture. The award is also given to music video directors who have created some of the most popular and acclaimed music videos in MTV history.

Queen Bey has won a total of 11 moonmen collectively for her solo work and as a member of Destiny’s Child . She leads the list of nominees this year with a total of eight nods, including Video of the Year.

Mrs. Carter follows last year’s recipient, Justin Timberlake , who reunited with ‘NSYNC during his performance at the event.

Other artists who have been given the award include: Britney Spears, Madonna , Janet Jackson , Bon Jovi , Hype Williams and Michael Jackson himself.

This year’s VMAs will be held on Sunday, August 24, at the Forum in Inglewood, California
