New on-set photos give us our first look at ‘Tula, The Revolt,’ a film based on the 1795 slave uprising on the Caribbean island of Curaçao. Directed by Dutch director Jeroen Leinders, the film stars Danny Glover and an international cast that includes Obi Abili, Jeroen Krabbé, Derek de Lint, Henriette Tol and Barry Hay.

The culmination of more than 20 years, ‘1982-2012 Fotografías de Juan Carlos Alom’ features exclusive work that depicts a rarely seen view of Cuba’s Black youth, Yoruba religious ceremonies, nature, art and life — serving as a refreshing antidote to the tired clichés of the country.

Earlier last month reggae artist Popcaan released the official video for “The System,” an epic, conscious tune backed by Dre Skull’s “Loudspeaker Riddim.” Filmed in Kingston, Jamaica, Popcaan lyrically depicts the trials and struggles of ghetto youth in the face of “the system.”
Nicki Minaj’s “Pound the Alarm” gets a festive Trini Carnival-style video treatment. Directed by Benny Boom, the visuals were captured last month in Trinidad’s capital, Port of Spain, at Queen’s Park Savannah — emulating the country’s largest tourist attraction.
