For hip-hop fans who are craving that old school feel from a fresh artist, you need to look no further than MC Melodee‘s Coolin’ EP.

The project is #2 of the three releases the Dutch emcee has in store for us this year, following this winter’s In My Zone EP.

Consisting of five track, Coolin’ features AG (of New York-based hip-hop group D.I.T.C. and Holland songstress Feliciana, with production by frequent Melodee collaborators Cookin’ Soul, Like (of Pac Div), Thelonious Martin, Brady James and AJ Beats.

An easy stand out for this release is the Biggie-assisted “Bread & Butter,” produced by AJ Beats, which loops the late rap legend’s “for the bread and butter I leave niggas in the gutter” line from 1994’s Gimme The Loot.”

Biggie is also found in the hook for a jazzy “Terrible Thing To Waste,” which utilizes “your brain was terrible thing to waste” and “only make moves when your heart’s in it”  from his 1997’s Sky’s The Limit.” Take a listen and download the EP for free below.

Melodee’s In My Zone and Coolin’ EPs are preceded by the previously released Check Out Melodee mixtape (2012), which was produced by Cookin’ Soul, hosted by DJ Whoo Kid and featured Mac MillerSmif n WessunOhnoMucho MuchachoGriffi, and Chuck Inglish.

That was followed by an official collaborative album with Cookin’ Soul, titled My Tape Deck (2013), which featured Bootie Brown (from The Pharcyde), Jet Life Records rapper Fiend and Feliciana.

As one half of La Melodia, a soulful hip-hop duo with DJ/producer I.N.T., Melodee is a Fat Beats Records alumni and international treasure, bridging fans from Amsterdam to Los Angeles.
