Africa Magic, the “Hulu of Africa,” Launches Service for American Audiences

Africa Magic, a channel dedicated to African programming made by Africans — soaps and drama series, lifestyle shows, and movies — is launching a U.S. service for American audiences.

Africa Magic Go offers viewers access to original African productions and 250 original feature films through a PC for just $8 per month, with plans to roll out apps for Apple and Android devices as well as other devices such as ROKU and Smart TVs.

The commercial-free service includes a one-week free trial for new subscribers and live streaming/pay-per-view of special events and reality shows.

“With so many Africans living in the U.S., there is a great demand for programming for Africans by Africans, one that is now filled by Africa Magic GO,” said Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, regional director at Africa Magic in a press release. “Africa Magic is committed to promoting African talent and creating global platforms that make content accessible to Africans, and those following African culture, across the world.”

Africa Magic is owned by M-Net, a subsidiary of MultiChoice, which a leading multichannel and multiplatform digital television operator across the African continent.
