SZA & Kendrick Lamar - Babylon

As we anticipate Top Dawg Entertainment ‘s next big release, SZA ‘s debut album Z , the singer has tapped label mate Kendrick Lamar for a few bars on Babylon ,” the LP’s first single.

Produced by DJ Dahi , the song first surfaced along with eerie APLUSFILMZ -directed visuals and sans K-Dot on March 7th.

Kendrick’s newly added verse replies to SZA’s unapologetic taunting with depressing confessions:

“You said that we’re equal but I know you’re beyond gassing that I’m beyond desperate /
6am on a Friday morning, my darkest hours /
Them heartless hours /
My apartment is lost in a coffin /
I’m dead to the world like I popped me a couple downers /
Down & Out on my luck /
Salt water all on my tux and I call, she don’t pick up /
Then I fall when summer’s ending…”

Z , which is out on April 8th , is preceded by the alternative R&B singer’s two critically acclaimed EPs, See.SZA.Run (2012) and S (2013).

In addition to Kendrick, the album will feature appearances from TDE’s Isaiah Rashad , as well as Chance The Rapper , who contributes to a sensual “Child’s Play.” Producers for the album include Mac Miller , Toro Y Moi , XXYYXX and more.

Z will be the third release from TDE this year, following Isaiah Rashad ‘s Cilvia Demo (January 28) and ScHoolboy Q ‘s #1 debuting Oxymoron (February 25). The entire TDE family is expected to drop new projects before the year’s end.
