Watch: Aloe Blacc Performs “The Man” with UT Longhorns Band on ‘Kimmel’ at SXSW
Panamanian-American singer-songwriter/rapper Aloe Blacc took center stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live at SXSW this week to perform his hit single “The Man,” accompanied by the University of Texas Longhorns marching band.
The song, which has peaked at #13 on the US Billboard Hot 100, is best known for being featured in Beats by Dre commercials for NFL stars Colin Kaepernick and Richard Sherman and NBA player Kevin Garnett.
It appears on Aloe’s Interscope/XIX debut, Lift Your Spirit (November 2013), which features production by Pharrell Williams, DJ Khalil, and songwriter Harold Lilly.
The artist’s first breakthrough hit was 2010’s “I Need a Dollar,” which was followed by an electro-bluegrass collaboration with Swedish DJ-producer Avicii and one of 2013’s biggest hits, “Wake Me Up.”
Aloe will be on tour with Bruno Mars for the Moonshine Jungle Tour, which kicks off in April.
