Netflix Sets ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 2 Premiere for Jun. 6
Netflix has revealed that the second season of its hit series Orange is the New Black will premiere on June 6th.
The show centers on Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a bisexual woman, engaged to a man, living in New York City, who is sentenced to 15 months in a women’s federal prison for transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her now ex-lover Alex (Laura Prepon), who also ended up in Litchfield Prison.
Over the course of the show’s first season, Piper met many colorful characters, from prison stylist Sophia Burset (Laverne Cox) to commanding kitchen czar Red (Kate Mulgrew).
Season 2 will pick up right where Season 1 left off and deal head-on with Piper finding her inner-prisoner and beating Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett (Taryn Manning) within an inch of her life. Watch the 17-second teaser below.
Produced by Tilted Productions in association with Lionsgate Television, the show is based on the memoir Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison written by Piper Kerman, which tells of her experiences in prison.
This year, the series has won an AFI Award for Best Television Program of The Year, a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Streaming Series, and a Satellite Award for Best Cast – Television Series.
