Liv Warfield and the New Power Generation ( Prince ‘s band from 1990 to 2009) recently tore down the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon stage with a performance of “Why Do You Lie.”

Between Liv’s power vocals and a blazing horn section, anyone who has seen the live set it is wondering why they’re just learning about her.

“Why Do You Lie” is the second single from Liv’s upcoming sophomore album The Unexpected , due February 18th.

A blend of alternative R&B and rock and roll, the album is preceded by lead single “Catch Me If You Can.”

Prince serves as a collaborator and producer for the follow-up to Liv’s 2006 album Embrace Me , co-writing “Your Show” and penning the title track “The Unexpected.”

“Every time I hit the stage with him,” Liv said about working with Prince, “it’s super-surreal. He’s super generous with his light. Being able to be in the studio and to learn from him and see how he writes and arranges — I get goosebumps talking about it. Because he’s special. He really is.”
