Kurt Cobain’s Hometown Honors Him With His Own Day on Feb. 20

If you’re a resident of Aberdeen, Washington and you so happen to also be a Nirvana and Kurt Cobain fan, then you’re in luck. The late singer and icon’s hometown has announced “ Kurt Cobain Day “ for February 20th.

The Aberdeen city council and Mayor Bill Simpson voted in favor of the event on January 22, 2014, in favor of making the day a commemorative, annual event in honor of the Nirvana frontman, celebrated each year on his birthday. Take a look at what the city had to say about the decision below:

“Aberdeen residents may justifiably take pride in the role our community played in the life of Kurt Cobain and the international recognition our community has gained from its connections with Kurt Cobain and his artistic achievements.”

The day will also precede Nirvana’s induction into the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10, 2014, along with KISS , Linda Ronstadt , Peter Gabriel , Hall and Oates and Cat Stevens .

A nearby town, Hoquiam, Washington has also announced an official day for the lead singer and his band called Nirvana Day on April 19th. Thoughts?
