Artist Sam Spratt Unveils Childish Gambino’s ‘Because the Internet’ Poster
Rapper Childish Gambino and artist Sam Spratt have joined forces once again, this time on the poster for Gambino’s Because The Internet — the title of his newly released album and accompanying screenplay.
Spratt revealed the artwork on his Tumblr page where he stated:
“After illustrating Donald Glover’s Royalty [mixtape], he hit me up again to create the poster for his new album [because the internet].”
Because the Internet‘s script corresponds directly with each track of the album, which released December 10, 2013 and soared straight to the top of iTunes the same day.
The 75-page story follows The Boy (played by Glover), “who lives in a mansion and spends his days tweeting at celebrities and posting videos to WorldStarHipHop.” His father is played by Rick Ross and his friend is Chance The Rapper. Read it here.
Unlike artwork from Royalty, the poster will not be sold by Spratt, but it may still become available. “You can get them at the mansion parties he’s throwing,” Spratt said. “More in the near future.”
Because the Internet serves as the emcee’s second studio release. In addition to Chance The Rapper, the 19-track set features Jhené Aiko, Harlem rapper Azealia Banks, and additional vocals from Compton rapper Problem.
The album was produced by Gambino himself, Christian Rich, Thundercat, Stefan Ponce, and Ludwig Goransson, and more.
Its lead single, “3005″ released October 21, 2013 and will hit the radio this month. A video for the song dropped December 6, 2013.
