Beats Music: Spotify Rival to Launch in January
Beats Electronics is entering the streaming music game with plans to launch Beats Music in January.
Originally expected to debut this past summer, the subscription music service will combine algorithms with curated programming from tastemakers.
“We’re nearly ready for liftoff,” blogged Ian Rogers, chief executive of Beats Music. “Thanks to your diligent testing and feedback we are locked and loaded, ready to launch here in the US in January 2014.”
Ian revealed that the service has been in “private beta” and their team has been utilizing feedback from “a few artists and other influencers.”
Anyone interested in reserving their username can do so now at BeatsMusic.com.
Founded by music mogul Jimmy Iovine and rapper/producer Dr. Dre, Beats Electronics’ new venture will go head to head with Spotify, Slacker, Pandora, Google Music “All Access” and Apple’s iTunes Radio.
