It looks like Best Man Holiday‘s opening weekend success may result in a third installment of the romantic dramedy, as director/writer Malcolm D. Lee and Universal are currently in negotiations.

Though fans had to wait to 14 years for the Best Man sequel, apparently Lee has already begun drafting stories for part three.

Slight Spoiler

We’re thinking based on the ending of its predecessor, the third movie may focus a little bit more on Terrance Howard‘s character Quentin, the seemingly shallow, male chauvinist of the group of friends, but whom we got to see another side of in Holiday.

Holiday has been lauded for beating Thor: The Dark World on Friday night’s box office with $10.7 million in ticket sales, claiming the #2 spot in the weekend box office behind Thor with $30.6 million — shocking analysts and nearly doubling its $17 million budget.

We’ll keep our eyes open for when part three gets the green light.
