Listen: Tamar Braxton’s New Summertime Jam “The One”

Just in time for summer, Tamar Braxton has released a new single, “The One” from her forthcoming sophomore album Love And War .

Topping iTunes R&B Singles earlier today, “ The One “ is already seeing similar success to the album’s title track, which topped iTunes within hours of its debut in December 2012.

Produced by Yung Berg (who is also executive producing the album) and LaShawn Daniels , the song samples Biggie ‘s 1994 Juicy ,” which samples James Mtume ‘s 1983 funk/R&B hit Juicy Fruit .”

Leaning more toward the gushiness of the original, “The One” captures the nostalgia associated with both — the summer block party, family bbq, first crush, etc.

“And I don’t want nobody else / Baby all I need is you / You’re the one I want,” sings the 36-year-old mommy-to-be, who is expecting her first bundle of joy with husband Vince Herbert in just a few weeks.

“The One” is written by Tamar herself in collaboration with Daniels, and the video is being filmed at Santa Monica Pier in California.

So far, Love and War is shaping up to be an impressive effort and we can’t wait to hear more!

The album will be out sometime this year via Epic Records. Enjoy “The One” below and buy it now on iTunes .
