Kerry Washington Covers Her First Fashion Magazine — Elle June 2013

Kerry Washington , who has appeared on the front of Women’s Health, Ebony, Essence, Vibe and more, finally graces the cover of a major fashion glossy — Elle Magazine ‘s June 2013 issue.

The 36-year-old Scandal star, who is a Best-Dressed List regular, wears selections from Marc Jacobs, Carine Gilson Lingerie Couture, Giorgio Armani, Balmain , and more chosen by stylist Samira Nasr for a Horst Diekgerdes -photographed Elle shoot.

Called “ Hollywood’s best kept secret” by the magazine, Kerry is breaking rules and records with her hit political drama series, which currently boasts over 8 million viewers.

It will end its second season with a nail-biting finale on May 16th, and Kerry has now ventured into a rare comedic role in Tyler Perry ‘s Peeples , in theaters May 10th.

“I was not that girl. I was a kooky theater kid, silly and goofy and academic.”

“I found out I enjoy the process. All these people show up at my house, they all have kits, someone has dresses. And it’s like, Let’s have fun. It’s not all about me. We’re able to create stories on the red carpet.”

On the career she thought she’d pursue:

“I imagined I’d be a clinical psychologist, with a focus on how performance shapes identity. I’d figure out ways to use role-playing in the healing of people.”
