‘Black Girl In Suburbia’ Documentary Set for 2014 Release

Black Girl in Suburbia

“Too White To Be Black and Too Black To Be White”

For the Black girls whose friends are predominately white, and find themselves representing the entire Black race, Melissa Lowery ‘s Black Girl In Suburbia is about you.

The documentary feature, which takes a look into suburbia from the perspective of women of color, originally surfaced in 2011, and has recently received a broad release date for 2014.

Through professional and personal interviews, the film addresses issues Black girls have relating to both White and Black communities.

Black Girl In Suburbia intends to spark an open dialogue about race, identity, and perspective among all people, in hopes that these discussions will allow us to reconsider perceptions of ourselves, others and the communities in which we live and share.
