2013 BET Awards Nominees: Drake, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz Lead

Young Money singer and rapper Drake leads this year’s list of nominees for the 2013 BET Awards with a total of 12 nominations.

He’s been nominated  five times in the Video of the Year category for his own singles “Started From the Bottom” and the Lil Wayne -assisted “HYFR,” plus collaborations with Kendrick Lamar ( “Poetic Justice” ), 2 Chainz ( “No Lie” ), and A$AP Rocky ( “Fuckin’ Problems” ).

Also nominated in that category are Rihanna ‘s “Diamonds,” Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z ‘s “Suit & Tie,” Kanye West ‘s “Mercy,” Miguel’ s “Adorn,” and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “Thrift Shop.”

Coming in second are newcomers Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz with a total of 8 nominations, while That Pretty Mothafucka A$AP Rocky folloows behind them with five.

Miguel, who has been having a great year and is currently riding off the success of his second studio album Kaleidoscope Dream , comes in third place with four nominations and Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West all tie with three.

This year’s show will be hosted by Chris Tucker with Chris Brown and R. Kelly serving as the only announced performers for the time being.

Charlie Wilson will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award during the show, which will be held at the Nokia Theater in L.A. live on June 30.
