Frank Ocean’s New Album Inspired by The Beatles & Beach Boys
R&B singer-songwriter Frank Ocean recently spoke about his upcoming second studio album, which is currently untitled, but set to be released later on this year.
He didn’t share any major details about the record, but he did speak on his inspiration. Take a look at what he said below:
“When I was making the first [album] there were a group of artists that I listened to, just for inspiration and to absorb the energies. It was a lot of Stevie Wonder, and this time it’s a lot of Beach Boys and Beatles and whatnot, so we’ll see how it trickles into the music and the final product. I can’t say much other than that.”
Last week, Frank, along with Jennifer Lawrence, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and Justin Timberlake, made it onto TIME Magazine‘s 2013 100 Most Influential People in the World. John Legend had this to say about the singer:
“Frank is brilliant. The day I started writing with him, it was clear that he has a very interesting mind and a distinctive way of expressing himself. He was fearless and innately creative. … I think Frank’s career will be defined by his fearlessness and his artistic freedom. He has the talent, the ability and the brilliance to have an impact for a long time. He will follow his muse wherever it goes — he’s not the kind of artist to adhere to everyone else’s schedule. That’s what makes him special.”
