Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dogg) is all about the peace and non-violence on his new single, No Guns Allowed,” which features Drake and Snoop’s daughter, Cori B.

The laid back reggae-pop single features the rap legend singing in Jamaican patois, “let the music play, me no wan no more gunplay, when the bodies hit the ground, there’s nothing left to say… me no wan fah see no more youth dead…”

In the wake of the most recent children to die by gunfire, 6-month-old Jonylah Watkins in Chicago, and 16-year-old Caleb Gordley in Virginia, the song’s timing is perfect.

The track was produced by Major Lazer, Ariel Rechtshaid, and Dre Skull, with additional vocals by Angela Hunte.

It will appear on Snoop’s forthcoming twelfth studio album, Reincarnated, the first under his new Rastafarian-inspired moniker — out April 23rd.

“No Guns Allowed” is preceded by singles “La La La,” “Here Comes the King,” and “Lighters Up,” featuring reggae stars Mavado and Popcaan.

Further collaborations for Reincarnated will include Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes, T.I., Akon, and Rita Ora.

The new direction Snoop is taking musically discounts criticism that the rapper’s only interest in this lifestyle and music has to do with smoking marijuana. Enjoy “No Guns Allowed” below and tell me what you think!
