Indian Actress Priyanka Chopra’s Life Playlist Includes Biggie, Bruce Springsteen & The Fugees
Indian film actress/singer Priyanka Chopra covers the March 2013 issue of Vogue India, where she reveals several songs from her life’s soundtrack, including “Hypnotize” by Notorious B.I.G, “Fire” by Bruce Springsteen, and “Killing Me Softly” by The Fugees.
“Let me put it this way, my teenage anthems were all pretty gangster [laughs]. When I was in Boston, I was hooked to hip-hop and went through this phase of listening to Biggie and Tupac, especially ‘Hypnotize’. I used to make my own mixtapes, recorded straight from the radio.”
The 30-year-old Bollywood star is on a path to making hits of her own, releasing her will.i.am-assisted debut pop single, “In My City,” last September, which was well-received in India.
A mix of fun, sappy, and rebellious, her playlist also includes “Mere Khawabon Mein Jo Aaye” from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, “Don’t Wanna Be A Player” by Joe, “Tu Mera Hero” from Desi Boyz, “Breakeven” by The Script, “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum, “My All” by Mariah Carey, “Bitch” by Meredith Brook, and “Erase“ by The Chainsmokers featuring herself.
“‘Bitch’ reminds me of the rebel in me. I suppose when you’re a teenager you go through that phase. But I had to grow up early. By 18 I had won Miss World and immediately started workingin movies. In many ways I think I’m regressing now [laughs].”
For her Tarun Vishwa-photographed spread, Priyanka poses flawlessly in Spring/Summer pieces from Hussein Chalayan, Michael Kors, Prada, Burberry Prorsum, Moschino, Louis Vuitton, and more chosen by stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania.
