Hayden Panettiere Talks Transitioning From Child Acting in Nylon March 2013
Nashville star Hayden Panettiere covers the March 2013 issue of Nylon Magazine, where the actress dishes on spending almost a decade in the Hollywood spotlight.
For her editorial spread entitled, Country Strong, Hayden is photographed by Cliff Watts in pieces from DSquared2, Boss, Marc Jacobs, H&M, Emporio Armani, Topshop, and Rachel Zoe chosen by stylist Christine Baker. See the full spread and interview excerpts below.
On growing up in Hollywood:
“I’ve definitely made mistakes. I was smack in the middle of that generation whose constant scandals were on the cover of all those magazines. Everyone was looking at me to fall off my horse–to make a mistake, just one wrong step. So I went out of my way to make sure that I didn’t even put myself in a position to be seen that way.”
On becoming an adult actress:
“Making the transition from being a child actor to an adult was tough. When I was a kid, it was just instincts. It never crossed my mind that acting wouldn’t work out. But when I’d grow up enough to start questioning myself, I started worrying and doubting.”
On dating in Hollywood:
“There’s no such thing as casual dating in this business. But then when you go through a breakup, it’s like a divorce. You have to put it out there eventually, because if you’re ever seen with another guy, even if he’s just a friend, you’re immediately cheating.”
