A few weeks ago, we shared the news that Demi Lovato would be releasing the lead single from her upcoming fourth studio album on March 4, 2013.

Well it seems that she decided to give her fans an early treat and released “Heart Attack” last night via iTunes , where it has reached the #1 spot after premiering on On Air with Ryan Seacrest this morning.

Produced by The Suspex (Mitch Allan and Jason Evigan) and written by Demi, Mitch Allan, Jason Evigan, Sean Douglas and Nikki Williams , the electro-pop song serves (at least to me) as a Part II of her summer hit “Give Your Heart a Break.”

In that song, she’s giving the guy all of the reasons why he should fall in love with her even though he’s a little scared, but in “Heart Attack,” she’s telling him why she’s afraid to do it, now that he’s ready.

I really like the record, however, I was expecting more electro-pop/dance-pop and a sound similar to “Unbroken,” the title track from the album of the same name, which was released in 2011. I love the melody and the lyrics, and I think that this could be another Top 10 song for her.

The album, which is currently untitled, is expected to be released within the Spring (sometime between March and May) of this year. Take a listen to the song below:
