Watch: Katy B’s New Video for Friday Night Anthem, “Got Paid”
While rumors swirl about a forthcoming sophomore release from soulful “dubstep queen” Katy B, she’s released a fun video for “Got Paid” and a brand new free EP, Danger, that has us craving more.
The 4-track R&B/dubstep/hip-hop teaser boasts collaborations with genre-warping producer Diplo, British emcee Wiley, Grand Hustle Records first lady Iggy Azalea, and English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware — to name a few.
Standout tracks are “Aaliyah,” which somewhat pays homage to the late R&B princess featuring sultry vocals from Jessie Ware, and the Zinc-produced “Got Paid,” arguably the closet we’ve gotten to Johnny Kemp‘s 1988 R&B dance hit “Just Got Paid” (which happens to be one of my dad’s favorite songs).
“No song since has so expertly conveyed that very specific thrill [until now],” raved Washington Post‘s Sarah Godfrey, who described the track as “a Friday-night special of a song that does Kemp proud.”
The video for “Got Paid” speeds through a girl’s night in London town from the pre-game and getting ready, to the dancefloor, to the after party hangout. Enjoy below and download the whole EP for free here.
