“Soul of Brooklyn” Party Celebrates Local Business, Brings Hurricane Sandy Relief | Nov. 10

As New York City still struggles to recover from Hurricane SandySoul of Brooklyn Food, Fashion and Art Party on Flatbush Avenue invites the community come together to help itself and a have good time as well on Saturday, November 10th from 12pm to 6pm.

Come out and support local mom and pop businesses, brings coats to the New York Cares Coat Drive at Atrium (233 Flatbush Avenue),  participate in the Hurricane Sandy donation drive at Cake Ambiance (452 Dean Street), and enjoy various entertainment throughout the area.

Get FREE Mini Cupcakes at Brookyln’s Cake Ambiance during “Soul of Brooklyn,” November 10th

Cake Ambiance is offering a FREE mini cupcake to anyone who spends $10 or more at any store on Flatbush Avenue (must present receipt).

For the coat drive, if you can bring gently used or freshly laundered coat(s), you’ll receive a tax-deductible donation receipt and an Atrium 10% off discount coupon.

The following specific items are needed for distribution to displaced Brooklyn residents:

  • canned goods (soups, vegetables, and milk) dry goods and ready to eat food (cereal, power bars, granola, crackers, etc)
  • Flashlights with batteries, cleaning supplies (face masks rated at least N95, work gloves, heavy duty trash bags, disinfectant wipes and bleach), disposable serving dishes and utensils
  • unused winter wear: hats, gloves, and socks. Lastly, we are collecting diapers, baby wipes and hand sanitizer

Soul of Brooklyn also has an exciting programming scheduled inside participating businesses on Flatbush Avenue such as a performance by violinist Mune (Brooklyn Jazz Consortium) at Cake Ambiance, portrait drawings by Sadikisha at Healthy Nibbles / Artisan Art, and a listening party with Haitian American artist Meridian at Kombit Bar & Restaurant.

Enjoy a wine and cheese reception shoe party with Charisa the Violin Diva at Je T’aime Shoes in Brooklyn, November 10th

Additional activities include complimentary tastings and happy hour specials at participating restaurants, a glam makeover with a stylist, make-up artist and fashion photographer at Versailles, wine and cheese reception shoe party with Charisa the Violin Diva at Je T’aime Shoes, and NY Chess and Game Shop is offering free chess instructional clinics.

There will also be performances by the CASYM Steel Band at Sugarcane Bar and Restaurant, vibraphone player Ricky Gordon at Cake Ambiance, and Vice Lounge Open Mic with the AhficionadosDJ Frei at Atrium.
