Shoegasm: Kanye West & Giuseppe Zanotti’s ‘Cruel Summer’-Inspired Sandal
Last night I did something that I haven’t done in a long time, I signed into Tumblr, and I’m glad I did. As I was scrolling, I came across this shoe, and before I could even say it, a caption under it stated that Kanye West had teamed up with Italian shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti once more to create a new shoe!
In celebration of his G.O.O.D. Music team’s debut compilation album Cruel Summer debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and #1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, Giuseppe and Yeezy created the Cruel Summer Sandal, and I live for it.
Firstly let me say that what I love about the Cruel Summer album cover is that the Grecian-inspired cover isn’t just a cover, it’s a fashion piece within itself.
Album covers bore me these days, which is why most of the albums in my iTunes library consist of fanmade covers. Kanye is really an artist, not just in music, but in fashion, art, and dare I say it, life.
Taking something that I already call a fashion piece and making an actual fashion-inspired piece of it just proves how genius this man is.
But this isn’t the rapper’s first time working with Giuseppe, earlier this year he created two pairs of sandals with one being made of calf leather encrusted with pearls, while the other was made of calf velvet. The shoes debuted at his Spring 2012 Paris Fashion Week show.
