Freida Pinto Goes Sexy & Retro for Flaunt Magazine, Talks Women in Indian Film & Addresses Rumors
Freida Pinto looks gorgeous as Flaunt Magazine‘s July 2012 US edition cover girl and the magazine’s feature, The Elegant Resistance, photographed by Yu Tsai. The Indian actress rocks a curly, short-haired wig and vintage Bottega Veneta, Versace and G-Star for a glamorous, but edgy 1950s-inspired look.
During the interview, the Slumdog Millionaire star talks about developing opportunities for women in the Indian film industry and addresses rumors circulating in her hometown that she is unfriendly, and more.
On Kareena Kapoor:
“Now, it seems to me, even taking Indian cinema in consideration, I feel like this year we’ve kind of experienced a shift in humanity. In India, actually, there has been a large disparity in how much a female and male actor gets paid, but this year, one actress changed all that [Kareena Kapoor].”
On hometown rumors:
“When I was promoting this big-budget film, some Indian media reported that I was being a diva on set, and that’s the reason I did not want to come to India to promote the film,” she said, “I’m like, ‘What? I’m in America. That’s why I can’t promote the film in India.’ It’s not easy to be in two places at once. It’s not true.”
