Ryan Lochte, Hope Solo & Serena Williams Cover Vogue Magazine’s Sexy Olympics Issue
Vogue Magazine usually features women on the cover, after all it is a women’s magazine. But for the fashion mag’s June 2012 issue, swimmer Ryan Lochte graces the cover alongside soccer player Hope Solo and tennis champion Serena Williams.
The ladies are both wearing retro swimsuits as they hold on to each of the brown-haired, blue-eyed, six-time Olympic medalist’s arms.
As you can see, the cover’s theme is the 2012 Summer Olympics, which will take place in London, England from July 27th to August 12th.
Shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, the magazine feature also includes decathlete Asthon Eaton, gymnast Jonathan Horton, Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade, and doubles tennis players the Bryan Brothers–who are all joined by model Karlie Kloss.
London was selected as the host on July 6, 2005 during the 117th IOC Session in Singapore, defeating Moscow, New York City, Madrid and Paris. It will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
Ryan serves as the fourth man to ever grace the cover of the magazine following Richard Gere, George Clooney, and Lebron James, who were paired up with Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bündchen, and Gisele again, respectively. This also marks the first time that a man covers the magazine without a female model!
Until today, I’ve never really heard of Ryan, and I am glad I did. I’m going to add him to my list! See more photos from the Olympics feature, as well as video from the shoot, below.
