I certainly will not be surprised if you tell me that the voice of British singer-songwriter Szjerdene completely captures you; if you say it forces you to close your eyes while her production and arrangements engulf you.

Hailing out of North London, the 23-year-old mixes pop with blues and jazz, citing musical inspirations which not only include Mariah Carey , as well as her UK peers Corrine Bailey Rae and Amy Winehouse , but also legends Sarah Vaughan , Ella Fitzgerald , Doris Day , and Dusty Springfield .

I became one of Szjerdene ‘s latest victims while watching her new video for “Blue Lullaby,” directed by Josh Feder and Saul Abraham .

Produced and arranged by Glen Nicholls , the haunting ballad leads as #1 of four on Szjerdene ‘s recently released Patchwork: The EP , which is available now on iTunes and Amazon .

Szjerdene uses Patchwork to carefully flex her soulful vocals over experimental electro sounds and folk-inspired melodies. Your heart breaks with “Blue Lullaby” which bares an eerie resemblance to Sarah Vaughan ‘s “Black Coffee” or Billie Holiday ‘s “Gloomy Sunday.”

“Turn” takes an alternative-rock approach and “4th Stranger” pulls you deep into psychedelia. While another standout, “Go” is beautifully vulnerable–aided by musical assistance from Yasmin
Baker on piano, Lee
 Franklin on guitar, Brendan
 Grieve on bass and Jonas
Pap on strings.
