Goapele’s official music video for ‘Play’
Oakland soul songstress Goapele is returning from a six-year hiatus with a sexy new single entitled “Play,” available now on iTunes . The extremely seductive track — produced by Oakland-based duo Teddy Thunderbolt and Dan Electric — will appear on her third studio album, Break of Dawn , set to be released on October 24th.
“Play” might be Goapele ‘s biggest single since her 2001 hit, “Closer.” The equally sexy black and white video for “Play” was directed by John Mazyck and Dahveed of Detail Shoppe .
For Break of Dawn , Goapele will expose a more free-spirited form of herself. “One of my goals for [Break of Dawn] was to be more uninhabited,” explains Goapele . “I came into this business as a young woman who wanted to lay a foundation of musical integrity and now I’m more willing to share my sensuality as well. I realize that it’s possible to be both complex and provocative.”
