Lupe Fiasco Challenges Us All With “Words I Never Said” Video

Lupe Fiasco "Words I Never Said" music video

“Have I refused to speak up when I should have?” Lupe Fiasco forces us to question more than our corrupt governments and media outlets.

We’ve all been waiting impatiently for the video premiere of the Chicago emcee’s “Words I Never Said” as the teaser only fed the frenzy. The track appears on his latest release, Lasers.

We knew one thing based on the trailer, the video would evoke as much emotion as the song which features Skylar Grey.

Lupe leaves very few stones unturned, challenging us all, especially those who scream for change only in their own minds.

Toward the end you’ll notice the Lasers Manifesto, an 160-word exhortation demanding that “the invisible walls that separate us by wealth, race & class be torn down… We want an end to the processed culture of exploitation, over-consumption & waste.”

There are many of us with people in our lives that don’t see hip-hop as more than a genre filled with misogynistic filth being peddled and consumed by the happily ignorant.

For them, I suggest that you take a moment to settle your debate with them with this video. While the fight scene is slightly corny, the messages are clear — whether or not you are ready to receive them, is up to no one else but you. Check out the video below.
